Twitter Web App : Biden’s camp is powered by Joe believers—some new, many old—who made wheels turn against naysayers. They fight for him (literally!) & now have to prove electability hypothesis during pandemic & economic downturn. Biden ran on experience—we’ll see if America wants him back. 7/7

Twitter Web App : Thx to Clyburn the finale of Biden’s bruising Feb. ended in SC w/his 1st primary win. There was joy but even more relief inside his camp. He raced Super Tues states, many private Biden supporters came from shadows. Rivals endorsed in TX=the most energetic night of his camp. 6/7

Twitter Web App : More-diverse NV felt better. Middle-class Joe worked his union chops. His 2nd place showed bet on diverse voters, many proud he served under Barack Obama, could work.(It’s not just that he was Obama’s VP. A SC man put it best: “He didn’t hesitate to be #2 to a black man.”) 5/7

Twitter Web App : But the ride thru early states to the South was rocky: the failed IA results app provided him cover to NH. Besides 1 day ripping Bernie/Pete, Biden eventually grabbed Dunkin’ and split early to SC for a semblance of hope. Long faces, tears and a bleak outlook was left in NH. 4/7

Twitter Web App : Polls said “front runner” but the trail looked otherwise. Smaller events. Voter enthusiasm waned for fresh faces. A rickety ground game. But SC stops always felt a little different: warmer reception from diverse voters. Evidence their long-held “electability”could work? 3/7

Twitter Web App : Dem rivals put him on defense. He defended his long record (crime bill, busing), apologized (Anita Hill, segregationist Sen comments), & even had to back Barack! Then POTUS & GOP zeroed in on Ukraine, hovering over Biden's campaign through impeachment. He stood by his son. 2/7

Twitter Web App : How did Joe Biden squeak out the Dem nomination? A thread on a Q some are asking:

From my time following Biden’s campaign (which started 349 days ago) the past year at many times felt like he was fighting a multi-front battle: 1/7

Twitter Web App : From Biden's 3rd presidential announcement in Pittsburgh to becoming presumptive nominee during a pandemic:

349 days.

Twitter Web App : New: Joe Biden now presumptive Dem nominee.
If elected, he would be just the 4th former VP to be elected president since the 12th Amendment and the only other one besides Nixon to do so in non-consecutive administrations. Our CBS News:…

Twitter Web App : Biden: Bernie Sanders gets a lot of credit for his passionate advocacy for the issues he cares about. But he doesn’t get enough credit for being a voice that forces us all to take a hard look in the mirror and ask if we’ve done enough.

Twitter Web App : .Joe Biden: "Bernie Sanders has done something rare in politics. He hasn’t just run a political campaign; he’s created a movement. And make no mistake about it, I believe it’s a movement that is as powerful today as it was yesterday."

Twitter Web App : .Bernie Sanders congratulates Joe Biden, says that the VP will be the nominee but adds that he will continue "working to assemble as many delegates as possible to exert significant influence over the party platform [...] Then together standing united we will go fwd to defeat DT."

Twitter Web App : *Biden*
De Blasio

Twitter Web App : .Bernie Sanders was reportedly sad but positive on a call w staff this AM as he announced he would be suspending his campaign, according to an aide on the call.

"The struggle goes on. This was never about Bernie Sanders, this was always about the movement," aide tells CBS News…
