TweetDeck : 163,000 coronavirus tests in the U.S. in last 24 hours. covidtracking.com/data/us-daily

Slight uptick from previous days, but still magnitudes below what we need.

TweetDeck : This is a ridiculous tweet. He could get his views across without bragging, endlessly repeating himself, and getting into petty squabbles with the junior varsity players in the WH press corps. And he could stop talking much sooner to give Pence, Fauci, Birx and Giroir more time. twitter.com/realdonaldtrum…

TweetDeck : In other words, if nefarious modelers sought to incite a shutdown, they would understate, not overstate, the # of deaths that social distancing would achieve. Overstating deaths makes the alternative of continuing as before relatively more attractive.

TweetDeck : If model grossly overestimated the number of deaths with social distancing, doesn't that suggest that case for social distancing was even stronger than model suggested? On what basis should we assume that continuing as before (w/o distancing) wouldn't have been calamitous?

TweetDeck : New from Number 10:

’The Prime Minister has been moved this evening from intensive care back to the ward, where he will receive close monitoring during the early phase of his recovery.

‘He is in extremely good spirits.’

TweetDeck : Why was the Supreme Court's decision in RNC v. DNC unsigned? Because applications for stay decided without oral argument are (in my experience) always unsigned, per curiam decisions. reason.com/2020/04/09/why…

TweetDeck : Greenhouse criticism of #SCOTUS majority in Wisconsin election case--"five justices were unwilling to do what they could to help"--reflects what Justice Scalia called unbounded "Mr. Fix-It mentality" about Court's role.

TweetDeck : Greenhouse: "I wonder why the opinion was issued per curiam," suggests cowardice.

Having followed #SCOTUS for 40 years, she ought to know that per curiam opinions are the usual practice on stay applications referred to the Court. No grand mystery. twitter.com/howappealing/s…

TweetDeck : Thread (1/n)

2 weeks ago, we tested about 100,000 people in a day.

Today, we tested 135,00.

That is a measly 35% increase. In 2 weeks!

During that time, # of cases has increased nearly 500%

# of daily new cases has increased 82%

And the % positive has gone from 17% --> 23%

TweetDeck : If this is attempting to say that McConnell has prioritized judges instead of working on a response to COVID-19, it’s prudent to note that the Senate hasn’t confirmed a judge since February 27th. twitter.com/petridishes/st…

TweetDeck : "Created Equal: Clarence Thomas In His Own Words" will air on PBS on May 18. It will be free to stream for two weeks thereafter. #appellatetwitter #lawtwitter pbs.org/about/blogs/ne…
