iPhone : Channel 4 and Sky have given 8.3million as peak across the channels for Cricket World Cup Final (using 1-minute peaks instead of 5, which raises it from 8m). Brilliant figures and shows power of free-to-air (and importance of Sky being willing to share the coverage)

iPhone : Kane Williamson’s reaction to be being told he’s player of the tournament is the best. 😂

iPhone : Channel 4 and Sky confirm 8.3million peak across the channels (using 1-minute peaks) for Cricket World Cup Final. Sky UK and Ireland CEO Stephen van Rooyen says it was ‘a huge audience for a huge moment for British sport’.

iPhone : One other thing to note - although there will be comparisons with 2005 Ashes the way people watch TV has changed dramatically over the last 14 years. No longer all about the TV itself, by any means. I watched cricket on All4 website and tennis on BBC Sport website.

iPhone : Obviously, as has been pointed out, lots of people around the country will have been watching in cricket clubs and pubs...and Trafalgar Square.

Twitter Web Client : Just looking at Cricket World Cup PEAKS, if you add audience from 7:25-7:30 (C4) and 7:28pm (Sky channels):

C4 = 4,479.5
Sky Sports Cricket = 1,053.2
Sky Sports Main Event = 1,330.1
Sky One = 1,115.2

Looks like 8 MILLION people in UK were watching cricket at same time!

Twitter Web Client : More4, which showed the cricket while British Grand Prix was on C4, looks like it had a peak of 1.23m at 4.28pm.
Again, these figures all subject to change, as audience teams at the broadcasters may use different metrics.

Twitter Web Client : These are all raw overnight figures, courtesy of overnights.tv, likely broadcasters will have slightly different numbers (1-minute data v 5-minute data etc) but a good early indicator of how popular these events were

Twitter Web Client : Some viewing figures for that mental afternoon of sport:
Wimbledon, BBC1 - peak 9.6m at 7.05pm, average 6m
Cricket World Cup final, C4 - peak 4.5m at 7.25pm, average 2.4m (C4 morning coverage - peak 2.1m, average 1.2m)
British Grand Prix, C4 - peak 2.5m at 3:30pm, average 1.8m

iPhone : Please enjoy this video of my grandmas reaction to England winning cricket world cup🤩 #CWC19Final

iPhone : England win the World Cup for the 1st time in the most gripping circumstances it is possible to imagine, & when it mattered most.
In this, their 1st final for 27yrs. And in this, the 1st of their matches to be shown live on free to air TV since 2005. Archer & Stokes the heroes

iPhone : Ladies Double final has now been cancelled and will need to be scheduled at some point tomorrow. Poor Hsieh, she followed Djokovic onto the practice court just after 2pm and was then having another practice session just now on Court 14. #Wimbledon
