Twitter for iPad : This is absolutely brilliant from Jurgen Klopp. 👏🏻

Twitter for iPad : The best thing you will see all day.

Twitter for iPad : There is one overwhelmingly important, interesting and difficult question following Johnson’s triumph. What policies can reverse the decline of towns in the Midlands and the North and improve opportunities and average wages for working people there? 1/

Twitter for iPad : Be ambitious by all means. There’s nothing wrong with wanting the power to change things. But above all be true to yourself. Because no one can live a lie for long and be happy. 3/3.

Twitter for iPad : Put party politics to one side in the constituency. You are there to serve the whole community. Be kind to the people who work for you, and to Commons staff - they will repay it in spades. Make friends in all parties - they will be there when you stumble. 2/3

Twitter for iPad : Good luck to all newly elected MPs, arriving in Westminster tomorrow. Here are a few words of advice from one who got it wrong more often than he got it right. It’s a marathon not a sprint so take your time to listen and learn. 1/3

Twitter for iPad : Yup. And I’ll forever regret not doing this. I knew @CarolineFlintMP + others were right at the time but as I said to her many times I’m not as brave as you Caroline when it comes to voting against a Whip. I should have been braver because I knew the Whip was fundamentally wrong twitter.com/JohnRentoul/st…

Twitter for iPad : This is brilliant from Jason Cowley. Anyone seriously considering the leadership of the Labour Party should heed his words:

Twitter for iPad : If Labour MPs had voted for May's deal, they'd have a softer Brexit, Johnson wouldn't be PM & they'd still have a chance independent.co.uk/voices/labour-…

Twitter for iPad : 1. Yesterday a journalist described #Mansfield to me as "the first blue brick in the red wall" - something I'm hugely proud of and even more so now that we've knocked it down and rebuilt in blue with some Blue Collar Conservatism foundations. Here's a why it shouldn't be a surprise:

Twitter for iPad : Working-class voters didn’t trust or believe Labour. We have to change | Jess Phillips theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

Twitter for iPad : This will prove to be the hardest nut that Johnson and Cummings have to crack. I wish them the best of luck. It is hugely important that they succeed. The people and the places that have just given them a big majority cannot afford for them to fail. END

Twitter for iPad : What success stories should they learn from? The decline of towns on the periphery is not unique to the UK. It is happening in France, Germany, Italy and the US. Which governments have grappled with these issues successfully? 4/

Twitter for iPad : higher public spending on technical education and retraining for people changing jobs, increased investment in local R&D networks and much greater devolution of decision-making over all of the above to local leaders. But will that be enough? 3/

Twitter for iPad : It is not going to be straightforward. The economic forces driving divergence between cities and their peripheries are powerful. It will require substantial public investment in transport and communications infrastructure, 2/

Twitter for iPad : There is one overwhelmingly important, interesting and difficult question following Johnson’s triumph. What policies can reverse the decline of towns in the Midlands and the North and improve opportunities and average wages for working people there? 1/

Twitter for iPad : Can we stop criticising every senior female politician for being “head of school”, “headmistressy” or “like a school teacher”? twitter.com/SpecCoffeeHous…

Twitter for iPad : "Lord, if my green has power of fire,
Fling me against Your love or ire
That I may give You out again
In one green, luminous amen."

What a beautiful metaphor...

Twitter for iPad : No point being churlish. This is a stunning - and intensely personal - victory for Johnson. The working people of Blyth and Sedgefield didn’t vote for the Conservative Party, they voted for him, and for Brexit. He has carved out a place in history.
