Sprout Social : The discovery of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), shown here in yellow, was made by researchers Françoise Barré-Sinoussi and Luc Montagnier. In late 1982, they were alerted to an alarming epidemic. By January 1983, they had discovered HIV.


Sprout Social : Remembering inventor Gustaf Dalén, who was born #OTD 150 years ago.

Dalén developed a method for emitting short flashes of light, thereby reducing gas consumption for light houses. He lost his sight in 1912 in an accidental explosion but remained active as an industrialist.
