Twitter Web Client : It is astonishing how unprepared Greek politicians across the political aisle are for questions related to gender equality. Greek journalists would not usually raise the issue either. twitter.com/BBCHARDtalk/st…

Twitter Web Client : Voter turnout statistics in Greece are wrong. The official electoral register includes minors and many dead people (e.g. my grandfather who died 12 years ago). Turnout (in absolute terms) actually increased from ~5.6m in 2015 to ~5.8m votes in this election.

iPhone : "When the authoritarian regime is associated with the left (right), the citizens of a new democracy will display an antileft (antiright) bias in their left–right self-identification". Great article by Elias Dinas and Ksenia Northmore-Ball journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.11…

iPhone : Good thread on Tsipras’s legacy (so far). Elected officials are inevitably full of contradictions but Tsipras’s extreme contradictions defined his term twitter.com/nchrysoloras/s…

Twitter Web Client : Really happy that the Neo-nazi criminal org Golden Dawn did not meet the 3% threshold to enter the Greek parliament. However, a new far-right party led by a telemarketer who sold "letters written by Jesus" & worships Putin elected MPs. Anything is better than the Nazis though.

Twitter Web Client : Exit polls also indicate a potential return to the dominance of a two-party system in Greece. Together, New Democracy and SYRIZA are projected to gain around 70 percent of the total vote. #GreekElections2019

Twitter Web Client : Exit poll predicts landslide victory for conservative New Democracy in Greek elections with a double-digit lead and absolute majority in Parliament. Neonazi Golden Dawn on cusp of 3% threshold for entering with ex FinMin Varoufakis's MeRA25 expected to get in. #greece #elections twitter.com/ekathimerini/s…

Twitter Web Client : News organisations are (again) at the forefront of the political debate in this election in Greece. Read more about the Greek media ecology here : digitalnewsreport.org/survey/2019/gr… twitter.com/risj_oxford/st…

iPhone : Call for papers for the 'Multidisciplinary Approaches to Political Discourse' Conference 2020, with emphasis on the new challenges of polarization, fragmentation, hate speech and Euroscepticism, taking place next June University of Liverpool - help spread the word! #CFP: liverpool.ac.uk/communication-… twitter.com/SPGuerra/statu…

iPhone : 100% this-"So much effort has been expended" on echo chamber+filter bubble theories & reason is "academics and journalists find it plausible because we ourselves are precisely the type of news consumers who are most likely to self-segregate" Kevin Munger on 🔥journals.uchicago.edu/doi/full/10.10…

iPhone : In case it's useful, a few points about Ursula von der Leyen as seen from Berlin:
- Yes, her defense ministry is seen as scandal-plagued, with major equipment problems & a handful of sleaze allegations.
