iPhone : “There’s only one way to save the British economy from coronavirus – by changing how it works forever” says Rebecca Long-Bailey. Those companies etc that have received public support should be required to operate differently after this is all over! independent.co.uk/voices/coronav…

iPhone : This crisis is making us realise we’re all connected – the chief executive relies on the refuse worker, the corporate lawyer on the supermarket worker, and the politician on the nurse.

This realisation should power how we rebuild our economy after.

Twitter for iPad : “...the principle and precedent of public spending on necessities will be there against any argument about the need for austerity and for essential spending on public services.”

Twitter for iPad : Britain was given a head start to tackle the coronavirus as it spread through other countries.

Much of that time has been wasted.

Twitter for iPad : Some observations on chancellors statement to protect workers and businesses so far:

1. Job retention scheme moving in right direction but no specific obligation to keep staff on, just a hope that businesses will do the right thing.

iPhone : The Left in Britain needs to understand that, however angry we may be about the MSM, this is an example of the alternative that the Tory Government would rather we had: “How Fox News has shifted its coronavirus rhetoric” youtu.be/ifKbwDf51bA

Twitter for iPad : It’s clear that now is not the time for half-measures. But that's exactly what we‘re seeing for renters - the govt’s proposal risks loading debt onto those who can least afford it, storing up problems for just a few months' time. The poorest must not pay the price of the crisis.

Twitter Web App : Rebecca Long-Bailey argues why we now need employment protection payments of at least 75% of previous earnings, up to a limit, for all workers whose employers have ceased/reduced business activity, + for self-employed + for those having to care for others rather than working twitter.com/RLong_Bailey/s…

iPhone : Today, the leadership of the National Education Union has written to the Prime Minister Boris Johnson, calling for the Government to close schools and colleges and protect vulnerable educators or those caring for at risk family members.

Here is the text of the letter.👇

Twitter for iPad : The government's response to coronavirus has been nowhere near enough – it's time for emergency measures from requisitioning private hospitals to suspending mortgage, rent and household bills, argues Rebecca Long-Bailey tribunemag.co.uk/2020/03/britai…

Twitter for iPad : The Danish government’s response to Corona virus is an excellent model - we should be demanding the UK government follow their example to protect people facing economic catastrophe twitter.com/ronanburtensha…

Twitter for iPad : Coronavirus highlights the complete failure by successive Tory governments to protect workers in the gig economy from exploitation - Labour must demand immediate action for their sake and to contain the spread of the virus theguardian.com/world/2020/mar…

iPhone : Further we need this comprehensive 12-point financial care package for the public and support for businesses:

1. An immediate increase in statutory sick pay, which lags behind European countries.

2. Extending statutory sick pay to all workers including those in self-employment.

iPhone : This is right. We need to see the scientific modelling and guidance used by government — and why they are taking a very different approach to other countries. Ambiguity is causing concern to the public who just want to know they‘re doing the right thing. twitter.com/RidgeOnSunday/…

Twitter for iPad : I want to hear what you think should be in a new Clause IV. 👇
